Concept Coaching Job Rotation & Skill Development Outline

We are excited to share details about the upcoming session of NXT Generation’s Job Exploration and Skill Development Program. This initiative is designed to provide your young adult with valuable hands-on experience tailored to their weekly schedule, interests, and skillsets. Here is an overview of the program:

Program Overview:

  • Start Date: January 2025

  • Duration: Select 6-8 weeks, within the broader 15-week January-May Concept Coaching Program

  • Purpose: To support job exploration, skill development, and personal growth through community-based work placements and concurrent continued learning programming

Business/Organization Placement Opportunities:

Participants will be placed at one of the following esteemed local businesses/organizations:

  1. The Van Wezel: Ushering

  2. Definition Fit: Cleaning and organizing the gym, gym equipment, and learning space 

  3. Arts & Central: Restaurant set-up, hosting, and bussing tables

  4. NXT Generation: Teacher’s assistant and coaching assistant

  5. AFA Basecamp: Cleaning and organizing the office spaces

  6. Great Heights Creamery: Cleaning and greeting customers

  7. Streets of Paradise: Moving and transferring furniture to and from the warehouse

  8. The Nest: Concession duties

  9. Cafe Arts: Cleaning the cafe and greeting customers

  10. The Bay: Groundskeeping

  11. Rabbit Rabbit: Retail & customer service

Please note: The roles, frequency, and duration of each placement will vary depending on the organization’s specific schedule. Additionally, we may modify or add to this list prior to January’s start.

Supplemental Activities:

When participants are not directly involved in their job rotation, they will engage in additional development activities, including:

  • Executive Functioning Skills

  • Employability Skills

  • Social/Emotional Learning Skills

  • Horticulture Therapy

  • Life Skills Training

Continued learning in conjunction with their job rotation(s), tailored individualized/small group instruction, and community involvement/integration are all significant parts of this program. These activities will be scheduled based on individual and group arrangements to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

Additional Information:

At the end of each series rotation, there is a possibility for participants to apply for paid employment at select businesses participating in this endeavor. This will be determined by our team, specific business, and your family unit.
